Tracking James R Riddle through New Mexico to pinpoint White Oaks N M Circa on photographs
J.R. Riddle operated a photographic gallery in Topeka, Kansas from 1872 to 1886. In the late 1870s, Riddle made photographic trips to Colorado. He photographed the eastern section of the state, but he preferred concentrating his work on Estes Park. This was in a period long before the Estes Park area became a national park.

The EP Archives was thrilled to acquire a rare cabinet photo entitled “Sprague’s Ranch From the East ” last week, the forerunner of Stead’s in Moraine Park. The assigned date on the back of the photo is “circa 1885,” the assigned photographer, J.R. Riddle.
