Word reached here Wednesday of the death of Fred Mayer at Willard, Torrance county, that night. Paul and Chas. D. Mayer, two brothers at White Oaks, were wired the sad intelligence, and one of them drove down from White Oaks and took the midnight train for Willard, to attend his brother’s funeral. The deceased came to White Oaks many years ago, and left there some five or six years since, going to Torrance county. Two of his brothers, as has been stated, still reside at White Oaks. Deceased also leave a wife and several children.
Frederick Mayer was born on February 22, 1846, in Germany, the son of Mr. Mayer. He married Hattie Mira Louise Schultz in 1892. They had four children during their marriage. He died on February 15, 1910, at the age of 63, and was buried in White Oaks, New Mexico.
