Juan Trujillo Chavez

Juan Trujillo Chavez was a notable figure in White Oaks, New Mexico, a town known for its gold mining history. Born in April 1840 in Valencia, New Mexico, Juan Trujillo Chavez was the son of Juan Chavez and Maria Chavez. He married Maria Guertrudis Herrera on November 24, 1863, in Tome, New Mexico. Together, they had one child during their marriage.

Chavez moved to White Oaks, where he became a prominent member of the community. Although the town was famous for its gold mines, Chavez was primarily involved in sheep farming. He was listed in the 1885 census as Onder Chavez, indicating his headship of the household in Precinct 08, Lincoln County. His household included his wife, Maria, and their son, Zuton.

Chavez’s involvement in the community extended beyond his personal endeavors. He was known for his contributions to local land ownership, as evidenced by records from Lincoln County showing his transactions, such as the deed recorded on October 10, 1892, for property in White Oaks.

Juan Trujillo Chavez passed away on May 11, 1910, at the age of 70, and was buried in White Oaks, New Mexico. His life and legacy are documented on platforms like Find a Grave and historical archives, which provide further details about his family and contributions to the region.
