The following info was furnished by Colleen Sessions:
According to family stories and information included in the book Wheel of Time 1800’s-1984 which was sponsored by Arvada Historical Group of Arvada , Wyoming, Ella Rebecca married a Mr. DeWit . They had a son, Joseph DeWit. Her first husband is presumed to have died in Kansas where Ella later met and married William Miley on 19 June 1879 in Topeka, Shawnee, Kansas.
1885 New Mexico Territorial Census finds Wm Miley and Ell R. living in Lincoln County, New Mexico Precinct #9 (Penasco)
Wm Miley born Virginia
Elle R born Pennsylvania
Maud born Kansas
Fred born New Mexico
Emma born New Mexico Feb of 1885
Half-siblings of Joseph DeWit Miley:
Margaret Maud Miley born 27 July 1880 Topeka, Shawnee County, Kansas.
Fred J. Miley born 7 July 1883 Roswell, New Mexico
Katharine (Emma) Miley 14 Feb 1885 New Mexico
Wayne Miley born 1886 died 1892
Family story is that Joseph Miley was killed by a wild boar. I have not been able to find any newspaper articles or an obituary to substantiate this or that might tell us the circumstances of the death of Joseph Miley who died 18 Dec 1882 or how how old he was.
However, after reviewing Chattel Mortgages for William Miley, that took place in White Oaks with a John Wilson and others in Penasco area AND the 1885 New Mexico Territory Census in Lincoln County, along with the City Directories of Kansas 1880 & !882 the evidence gives me confidence that the Joseph Miley buried in Cedarvale Cemetery is, indeed, the oldest child of Miley family, Joseph Dewit Miley.
Family information included in the Wheel of Time1880-1984 indicate that William and Ella later moved near Hope, Eddy, New Mexico. Sometime later they divorced and Ella Miley went to Arvada, Wyoming in 1902 where she lived and died 21 Nov 1933 Sheridan, Sheridan, Wyoming.
