John Dewberry Garrett is the son of Henry William Garrett and Parthenia Alta Tuck of Halifax County Virginia.John D. Garrett went to New Mexico prospecting for gold. In or near White Oaks, NM, he owned 1/3 interest in several mines: “Hell’s Half Acre,” “Little Daisy” and “Oxford.” (The latter was named after Oxford, Alabama.
John Dewberry Garrett killed by a falling stone that was thrown into the air by a mine blast.
