By the 1880 Census in Richwood, McDonald County, Missouri, James was 32 years old, his wife was Eliza Tucker 25 yrs old, with children Robert C. Tucker 7 yr, Gabriel F. Tucker 6, and James A. Tucker 10 months old. The 1880 Census also show his parents and a few siblings living very close nearby his home.
By 1885 New Mexico Territorial Census, Lincoln, NM James is 37 yrs old, his wife Eliza A. Tucker is 31 years old, children Robert (Ruben) is 12 yr,, Saml (Gabriel) Tucker 11yr, James Tucker 5 yr. old.
