Most of  the newspapers reported almost weekly on picnics. Parties. Dinners Marriage galas ,fund raisers  organ for Methodist church or to benefit students or ailing citizens for example 
Little casino saloon had private meeting rooms. Obviously there was no shortage in activity available to the citizens as we have seen over and over  White Oaks level of civilized society, and  population interaction was at a level of a far larger city.
