Benjamin Franklin Gumm was the son of Jehu Gumm (1787-1848) and Anna Shoup Gumm (1789-1866)who died in La Salle Co., IL. Benjamin Franklin Gumm married Martha A. Goff in 1860 in Kansas. She died 2 May 1904 in White Oaks, Lincoln Co., NM and is buried there.
Aleph Goff, President, and B. F. Gumm, Secretary, K.C. Kirby, W.W. Wright, George P. Eaves, John W. Wells, Robert W. Wells, Nelson Griswold, L. P. Foster, James Wright and John P. Guttry who were members of the Town Company, laid out Uniontown, Kansas in 1858. The town company purchased twenty acres from John L.
