It is ironic that finally after the town had imploded the railroad had ten men working in White Oaks. What they were doing and what the pumping station was is a mystery.
Most of the cattle men were not counted in the town prior so it is safe to say they came to town from the forest and simply took over an abandoned home. Better to be in what was left of White Oaks then alone in a shack out in the forest.
